What Is More Important? Achieving Goals Or The Process Of Achieving Goals!
Hello friends!
How are you? I hope you all are in good health and safe in your houses.
Today, I have brought a fresh topic of discussion which is going to add quality in our thought process and eventually will contribute to make our lives better in terms of happiness, morals, righteousness and peace of mind.
After the reading the title, you must have thought something. Most of us are already choosing either 'achieving goals' as important over the 'process of achieving goals'. But I would request you to hold your thoughts before reaching to any conclusion. I am going to explain the above mentioned topic in simplified manner so that you make a better decision. I am sure this is going to add more value to your life.
Let me put forward in detail, the difference between these two terms - "Achieving a goal" and "process of achieving a goal.
Achieving a goal simply means reaching your goal irrespective of the path you've chosen to achieve it. The path may be morally right or wrong.
The process of achieving a goal is a chosen path or a process or a way through which you'll reach your goal. The process matters a lot. If the process or path you choose to achieve your goal is morally wrong then there is good chance that you may face unexpected problems.
Why Morals Matter In Achieving Your Goals?
Morals are integral part of our lives which defines the amount of suffering one would go through in entire life span. It's a natural law which if keenly observed will explain the cause-effect phenomenon in your life. The action you take in your life to achieve a goal, if driven by a malicious intent or thought process the consequence will bring suffering to you. If you achieve a goal by choosing a righteous path, then the consequences are rewarding to you.
Those people who doesn't care about the process of achieving goal are bound to suffer. They may end up loosing more than they bargained. Many believe in a thought that if they compromise with their morals a bit, they may achieve their goals faster. This is absolutely wrong. There is no way this ever happens. Whenever morals are compromised you may get minor gains on the path of achieving goals but surely will end up suffering a lot. This suffering clouds the short-term happiness you get from achieving your goal.
If you follow the righteous path or morally right process to achieve your goal, I can assure you that you will achieve you goals faster. Whenever you take any decision based on the moral grounds, you make sure that the consequences you will face are good. As per the cause-effect phenomenon, the consequences you face are good means that they will enhance your efforts. Hence you will end up achieving your goal faster.
Let me give a better idea with this example. There are two teenager friends who are going to attend a final written exam in next few days. Let's name them Tom and Jerry (because I love these cartoon characters). Both Tom and Jerry wants to emerge as a topper or 1st ranker in the exam. Tom decide to study hard in the exam and starts studying with utmost dedication. Jerry on the other hand, wants to become 1st ranker but he is very lazy to study. He finds it hard to study and comes up with a cunning plan to steal the exam question paper from the Principal's office a day before exam. The night before exam, Jerry sneaks into the Principal's office and tries to steal the question paper. Suddenly the guards get alarmed and Jerry is caught by the guards. The same night, the news of break-in by Jerry reached the Principal. He was furious and suspended Jerry from school and barred him from appearing for the exam. Tom who honestly studied for the exam appeared the exam and stood 1st ranker in the exam.
So what is the moral of this story? The moral is clearly evident. Both, Tom and Jerry had similar goal of achieving the position of 1st ranker. Tom took the morally righteous path and emerged as a winner. On the other hand, Jerry took an immoral path and ended up not only loosing his goal but also suffered grave consequences due to wrong actions. There are many such example in your life with you or maybe the people around you which can testify that morality play a role in achieving your goal.
The Righteous Process Of Achieving Goal.
I am happy to establish the fact that the process or the path of achieving your goal is very important than the goal itself. The true happiness of achieving your goal is felt within your heart only when you know that the efforts you put was morally driven. You feel right in your heart whenever you took any small decision which took you a step closer to the goal.
You should know what are the morals which drive you faster to achieve your goals.
The morals are :
Abstinence from lying.
Abstinence from alcohol/drugs/smoking/substances abuse.
Abstinence from sexual immorality.
Abstinence from killing/harming physically.
Abstinence from stealing.
In the above mentioned example story, you saw that Jerry broke the moral of abstinence from stealing. You know what consequences he faced. You will see many people around you and yourself breaking these morals for bigger or smaller goals. And whatever you are suffering in your life you will find it hard realize that you are facing the consequence of your own actions you took sometime ago in your life.
How It Will Contribute to your Happiness And Peace Of Mind?
Nobody can escape the law of cause-effect of morals. Hence it your most important duty to always remember to choose the righteous process to achieve any goal in your life. I am sure now you are convinced that if you wish achieve your goal faster and for sure you will always choose the morally righteous process even though you may find it little hard to fathom.
Whenever you walk on the path of righteousness and choose a moral process to achieve your goals, you will realize that your actions are going to create a good consequence. You've to make sure that you're following the above mentioned morals to achieve your goals because the cause-effect phenomenon is always in play. Your actions following the morals is creating consequences that will ensure your success and reward you with more than you desired. The cause-effect phenomenon is more like ripples in water after throwing a stone in it . The stone represents actions and ripples represents the consequences.
Once you start experiencing good consequences you will feel peaceful in your mind. You know you've done good. You're is not in any conflict with yourself regarding achieving your goals. So a mind free of conflict with itself gives nothing but happiness. You don't have to search it outside. HAPPINESS and PEACE OF MIND are within you. It is your choices that decides to take you near them or away from them. Moral choices will always take you closer to the happiness and peace of mind. Immoral choices will take you away from them.
So Friends! I am very happy to share my thoughts on process of achieving goals with you. I hope I contributed a small good thing in your life. Please give me opportunity to learn from you too. Kindly post your thoughts, suggestions, criticism in the comment section below. I will be very happy to learn from you and make my life more good. I hope this will bring you more happiness and peace of mind. I hope you will always value the process you choose to achieve your goals than the goal itself.
